Biography

Darrell Ray Bartek of Carrollton, Texas, formerly of Whitney, Texas passed away December 6, 2011, in the Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney. Burial will follow at St. Olaf Old Rock Church Cemetery near Cranfills Gap, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, December 9th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Darrell was born December 26, 1960 to Raymond Bartek and Louise Rohne Bartek. He was baptized into the christian faith on February 19, 1961. His date of Confirmation in the Lutheran Church was on June 10, 1973. At the time of his death he was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dallas. He attended elementary school in Carrollton, Texas before moving to Whitney, Texas in 1975. He was a graduate of Whitney High School in May, 1979. On September 1, 1979, he married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Sims. Born to this union was one son, Tyson Ray Bartek, now of New York.

Darrell was gifted with many talents. In taking on any project, he had the great foresight of how the finished product should look. He could easily be tagged as “Mr. Fix It” as he shared his natural mechanical abilities with his many friends and acquaintances. He worked in the family business, Barco Mirror & Glass, for 30 plus years until his health began to fail about 3 years ago.

Preceding him in death was his father, Raymond Bartek, in August, 1996.

Darrell is survived by his son, Tyson Ray of New York; mother, Louise Bartek Ponewash and husband, David of Whitney; 2 brothers, Larry Bartek and wife, Michelle of Plano, Brian Bartek of Irving; his special friend, Helen Clarke of Carrollton and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
