Darrell Wayne Meador, Sr., loving husband, father, pawpaw, brother, uncle, age 68, of Whitney, gained his wings on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
He was born on July 27, 1952 in Bosque County to Oscar Meador, Jr. and Lilly M. Stewart and was raised by Alvildia “Mom” Meador Casey-Leake. During his life he served in the U.S. Navy on the S.S. Kitty Hawk. He worked for Kohler for 15 years. In his later years he hauled and cut cedar. On July 27, 2002 he married Cathy Haben-Meador.
Darrell was known by Pops and was loved by many. He loved fishing, reading western books, watching Judge Judy, and enjoying the family reunion. He was known for his great stories, and how he always started a conversation with “he took and” he loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Jr., and Lilly; brothers; Dale, Larry, Ronnie and Marvin Meador; daughter, Susie Murie Turner; and grandson, Robert Wayne Adair Caboose Turner.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Cathy Meador; brother, Oscar Meador and wife, Carla; sister, Susan Meador-Harden and fiancé, Gene; sister, Tammy Rhodes, children; Marty Crawford, Alana Farr, Gary Meador, William Jones, Misty Meador, Hubert Meador and wife, Jennifer, and Jason Meador; grandchildren, Jonathan “Bear” Meador, Kimberly “Flirt” Hamilton and husband, Michael, Gary “Button” Meador Jr., James Davis “JD” Turner and wife, Catherine, Virginia “Jenni” Warner and husband, Rowdy, John Jacob “JJ” Turner, William Crawford, Skylar Crawford and wife Shanta, Chelsee Crawford, Jason Gandy, Levi Farr, Melissa “Yardbird” Strasser-Hill and fiancé Daniel, Jazymne “Flower” Taylor, Monica “Candy” Meador-Hulsey and fiancé’, Dalten, Leona “Lucky” Meador; great-grandchildren, Aidyn Turner, Emma Turner, AnnaLysse Turner, Kamrie Warner, Kylie Warner, Judy Warner, Kayson “Tiny” Meador, Mackaylyn “Diablo” Hulsey, Avery Crawford, Anna Crawford, Nova Hamilton, Haley Jolly and Aliya Jolly; along with several nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Out of honoring his wishes he will not have a funeral or memorial. He wanted to be cremated and his ashes spread into the river.
