In 1950 he moved to Pecos, TX, where he took a position as a teacher and basketball coach. In 1953 he came to Hillsboro in the same capacity. He loved teaching and coaching, and he dearly loved and wanted the best for all the children he taught. In addition to his teaching, he also drove a school bus for 18 years and taught Drivers Ed for a number of years. In 1984, he retired from teaching. In his leisure time, he enjoyed sports, playing his guitar, carpentry work and fixing everything that needed to be fixed. In 1980 he built his own garage. He also loved everything about nature.
