David Hayes

David was the son of George and Vanita Sweeney Hayes. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. Following high school he enlisted in the Marine Corp and served three years, including duty in Viet Nam. Upon his return, he married Geri Williams of Itasca. For over 20 years, he worked for Texas Department of Transportation, retiring in 2003. David was preceded in death by his father. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro. Survivors include: his mother, Vanita Hayes of Itasca; two children, Jesse Hayes and wife Jo of Navasota, and Jenny Hayes and Rick Bullard of Grandview; two brothers, Ronnie Hayes of Hillsboro, and Billy Hayes of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
