It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Hill, who left this world on March 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. David was the definition of a life well lived-outgoing, kind, and selfless, with a heart of gold that touched everyone he met.
David was born in Waco, TX, on July 28, 1956, to Allene Hurst and Daniel Hill. When he lost his own father as a young child, he was blessed with his amazing stepfather, Jim Hurst. The bonds they shared over hunting and fishing would last a lifetime. David graduated from Whitney High School in 1974 and went on to marry the love of his life, Jane Hill, on May 20, 1978. Together, they built an incredible life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
David was the best dad to his two children, James and Jennifer, and found his greatest joy in his seven grandchildren. He lived for his family and was present for every single event in their lives-whether it was a game, recital, or celebration, he was always there, cheering the loudest and loving the hardest.
He never met a stranger, making friends wherever he went with his warm smile and generous spirit. Whether on the rugby field, at the lake on Lake Whitney, or enjoying a cold beer and live music, David embraced every moment. He truly lived life to the fullest and never fell short of showing his loved ones just how much he cared. He was also known as the best "Uncle Dave" to many nieces and nephews, always bringing laughter, love, and fun to their lives.
David leaves behind his beloved wife, Jane Hill; his son and daughter-in-law, James & Alissa Hill; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer & Jason Mercer; his sister, Donna Whitehead; his seven cherished grandchildren-Addison, Aaron, Savannah, Olivia, Jake, Janson, and Clara; and his many nieces and nephews who adored him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Allene Hurst; his father, Daniel Hill; his stepfather, Jim Hurst; and his sister, Kay Howard.
His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the love he gave so freely. While our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing his spirit will forever be with us.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by sharing any pictures and memories that you may have. Please send them to jenn_lynn86@hotmail.com. A Celebration of Life will take place on April 5, 2025, at Bosque Resort Restaurant from 2 - 5 pm where we will gather to honor the incredible man Dave was, doing what he loved most- socializing with his friends and loved ones while having a cold beer.
