David Olivas

David Olivas, 51, of Hillsboro passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Funeral services will be held at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Barron Harris officiating and his niece Nicole Irvin will speak. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors.

David was born on September 22, 1967 the son of, John G. and Guadalupe (Reyes) Olivas in Hillsboro, Texas. He grew up in Itasca and graduated from Itasca High School in 1986. During high school David was very active in the FFA. After high school he attended Hill College and received his associates degree in History. David worked as a hotel manager for the Holiday Inn in Hillsboro, Burleson and Mansfield.

When David was not working he enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Texas Rangers, he was an avid history buff and coin collector. He also really enjoyed being outdoors and going nature walking. His love for heavy metal music and Johnny Cash comes with a long list of bands: Kidrock, Guns-n-Roses, Kiss, Metallica, Rush 2112, Selena, Beatles, Hank William Sr and Jr, Led Zeppelin, and Areosmith. David also loved photography, gardening, fishing, grilling and playing with his 3 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and brother, Thomas Olivas.

David was survived by the mother of his children and loving friend, Melissa Comer Olivas of Hillsboro; his children, John Olivas of Groesbeck and Catherine Olivas of Hillsboro; brother, Julio Olivas; and 3 grandchildren, Aiden, Kaileih, and Luna Olivas.
