David Harold Pederson

David Harold Pederson, 72, of Hillsboro departed this life to reside eternally in his heavenly home on January 29, 2023, with his loving wife of 47 years by his side. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.  Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

David was born November 9, 1950, in Waco, Texas, to Harold and Varue Pederson. He was raised in Hubbard and was a 1969 graduate of Hubbard High School and attended Hill Junior College. On July 5, 1975, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Brenda Sanders, and they were blessed with two sons, Brian and Mark. David was a dedicated family man and provided for his wife and children as a welder, a machinist, and State Inspector with TxDOT, where he retired in 2015. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, working on various projects, playing dominoes, and feeding his cows at his Hubbard property; however, his biggest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and being their biggest fan at all of their various activities. He was affectionately known as “PawPaw” by his grandchildren Kate, Coy, Hagen, Cara, and bonus granddaughter, Tatum, and “Davey'' by his great nephew, Mason.  He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Men’s Downtown Sunday School Class in Hillsboro, Texas.  David was known for having a sharp eye for a good deal, and he would spend much of his spare time hunting for “treasures” wherever he went.  He was a loyal husband, father, and friend who always stood ready to lend a helping hand or a kind word to anybody who needed one.  He was one of a kind who will be remembered and missed by all those who knew him well.

David is survived by his wife, Brenda, of 47 years; son, Brian and his wife, Lacy, of Spring; son, Mark and his wife, Lyndsey, of Bynum; grandchildren Kate, Coy, Hagen, and Cara; as well as his twin sister, Deborah and her husband, David Leaman, of Waco; and his younger brother and best friend, Kevin Pederson of Hubbard.  He is also survived by niece, Leslie Leaman of Waco; nephews, Kalin and Kolby Pederson and great-nephew, Mason Pederson all of Hubbard.

The Pederson family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, and health care workers at Hill Regional Hospital Emergency Department in Hillsboro and Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco. Their medical skills and emotional support throughout were truly a blessing from God for which we will be eternally grateful.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 271, Hillsboro, TX 76645; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to the charity of one’s choice.
