David Wayne Mohler

David Wayne Mohler, 44, of Whitney, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2020, in his home. Memorial services will be held in San Angelo, Texas at Cain’s Cove (3338 Jaycee Rd, San Angelo, TX 76904) on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 2 p.m. and in Whitney, Texas at TGCC Event Center (1009 E. Jefferson Ave, Whitney, TX 76692) on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 2 p.m.

David (Squirrel) was born on April 2, 1975 to parents William (Bill) Mohler, Jr. and Virginia Evans Mohler in San Angelo, Texas.

He graduated from Lake View High School in San Angelo, Texas in 1993. He was inducted into the Lake View Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012 for his participation on the track team. He also enjoyed playing football for Lake View. His passion was softball, he played and coached “The Outlaws” team, competing in several tournaments and in an adult league in San Angelo.

In August 2000, he met Molly Rae Thompson Gilliam and daughter Ambree Shalise Gilliam, age 3, in San Angelo, Texas. After a lengthy engagement, David (Squirrel) and Molly were married on February 14, 2007 at their home in Grape Creek, Texas. In 2015, they moved to their current home just outside of Whitney, Texas where they began M Square Construction and M Square Custom Cabinets.

He is preceded in death by grandparents William and Dorothy Mohler; grandfather Tommy Evans.

He leaves behind his wife, Molly and daughter Ambree of Whitney; parents William (Bill) and Virginia Mohler of San Angelo; grandmother Shirley Evans of San Angelo; sister Jessica Boone, her husband Dennis and daughter Madison of San Angelo; like a son of Squirrel’s heart Christian Schmitz and family, Becca and Avahleigh; as well as many more in his large family and friends.

David “Squirrel” was a wonderful husband, loving father, and larger than life friend to many.
