David Harlan Wood

David Harlan Wood, 85, of Morgan, passed away on June 28, 2020 at Town Hall Estates in Whitney.   A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Kimball Bend Cemetery in Bosque County.

David was born on October 26, 1934, in McMan, Oklahoma to Holly Harlan and Lola Lois (O’Neal) Wood.    He grew up in the Dundy Hilton area of Oklahoma, attending school there, graduating from high school in 1952.    After graduation, he attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma.  For 22 years he worked for Childress Oil Company and then for Blum ISD as custodian for 10 years before retiring.   He also served in the Army National Guard.

On June 14, 1963, he married Shirley Ann Hornsby in Ft. Worth, Texas.

David enjoyed being outdoors as well as hunting, fishing and gardening.  He especially enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ruth.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wood; sons, David Wood and wife Lisa and Doug Wood and wife Ruby; daughter, Lois Smith and husband Aaron; 5 grandchildren, David Wood, III and wife Bailey, Danny Wood and wife Megan, Hannah Wood, Douglas, Wood, Jr., and Kayce Wood.

Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 710 N. 64th St., Waco, TX  76710 or the charity of one’s choice.
