Deborah Landers

Deborah "Debbie" Jean Anderson Landers, a beloved wife, educator, and adventurer, passed away on March 9, 2025. She was born on September 24, 1951, in LaPorte, Indiana, at Fairview Hospital. From an early age, Debbie's warmth and energy were evident. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church Youth Choir.

At just nine years old, Debbie and her family relocated to Richardson, Texas, on September 1, 1961, when her father transferred to Dallas with State Farm. She grew up on Chippawa Drive in the "Estates North" neighborhood often affectionately known as "The Indian Reservation." She attended Arapaho Elementary, Belt Line Junior High, and graduated from Richardson High School in May 1970. She went on to attend Texas Tech University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education degree.

Debbie dedicated her career to education, teaching Special Education, Texas History, English and PE at Reed Middle School in Duncanville ISD. She was a passionate and beloved educator, avid reader, and even earning the title of "Donkey Basketball Queen" one year. After twenty-nine and a half years of service, she retired from Reed Middle School in 2004.

On February 27, 1993, Debbie married the love of her life, Edward C. Landers II. Together, they built a life filled with adventure, faith, and love. Their shared passions took them to sailing on various vessels from 19' Day-Sailors to ocean capable cruisers. They also embraced the open road, riding Harleys on countless trips. She and Ed eventually added RV travelling to their love of travel and adventure. They bought their first of three Airstream travel trailers in 2004 and soon moved to and made their home and "Home Base" at the North Texas Airstream Community (NTAC) in Hillsboro, Texas. There they found a special community of friends and fellow travelers. For over twenty years they were almost constantly touring the continental U.S.A. adding further adventure and fun to their shared passions.

A devoted Christian, Debbie was a proud member of the Richardson PEO Chapter ("DO") before becoming a charter member and past president of the Duncanville PEO Chapter ("FQ"). She was a vibrant presence in every circle she joined, known to family and friends as "the Life of the Party."

Above all, Debbie was deeply loved and cherished by friends and family. Her husband, Ed, described her best: "My love, wife, best friend, partner, and the best thing to ever happen to me."

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, forever continuing her adventures, and celebrating life in spirit.

A memorial mass will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, Texas, with Father Thomas Jones officiating.
