Deborah Lee Walker of Palestine, Texas, passed peacefully at home. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Robert Zurtler Walker and Emma Lee (McBride) Walker and was the oldest of five children. She was baptized in 1952 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. After school and marriage, she became mother to five children who became the center of her life. She moved to Corsicana, Texas, in 1982 and after her children had grown, Deborah supported herself as a bookkeeper. This allowed her time to teach the Bible’s comfort of permanent relief from all suffering and the promise of endless life in a paradise earth.
Deborah is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Roberta Brewer (husband Horace) of Corsicana and Eunice Crawford (husband Mike) of Summit, South Dakota. She is survived by her sister, Mary Day (husband Verne) of Corsicana; brother Robert Walker (wife Debra) of Carthage, Texas; sons Charles Swatek, Jr. (wife Elizabeth) of Jalisco, Mexico, Robert Swatek of Pennsylvania, David Swatek (wife Paula) of Waco, and Thomas Swatek of Guthrie, Oklahoma; daughter Deborah Swatek of Palestine, Texas; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; twenty-one nieces and nephews; and many more extended family, friends and spiritual brothers and sisters whom she loved very much.
The family wishes to thank Shelby in the Palestine Regional Hospital Emergency Department. In lieu of flowers, secure donations may be made at Donate.JW.org and Deborah would be pleased if you were to attend a special Bible talk in coming weeks, “The Resurrection – Victory Over Death!” and a week or two later at the same location, the annual Memorial of Jesus’ Death the evening of Sunday, March 24, 2024. The location in your immediate area can be found at JW.org by clicking “Learn More” – no login or registration is ever needed and never any spam.
Due to the very wide distribution of her immediate and extended family, a Zoom-only service will be held at 6:00 PM CST, on Friday, March 8, 2024. The zoom link is available from her brother, sister, children and congregations where she attended.
