Delia Jo King

Delia Jo Smith King of Midlothian passed away on December 30, 2011.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Jay Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 Monday at the funeral home.

Delia Jo King “Nanny” was born on October 10, 1925 in Lancaster, Texas to Tom and Loura Smith. She grew up in the South Oak Cliff area of Dallas where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Edmond Eugene King on September 16, 1949. In 1959 they moved their family to Lake Whitney where they raised their 3 children. She was an incredible mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spoiled everyone with her great cooking, especially her pecan pies, fried chicken and homemade cookies. Her career was loving and spoiling her 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and one on the way.

Nanny was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, 2 sisters; twin infant daughters and her husband on May 22, 2004.

She is survived by son, Mike King and wife Debbie of New Braunfels, TX., daughter, Diane Marsh and husband, Garry of Midlothian, TX., and daughter, Denise Foster and husband, Carl of Hobbs, NM.; 6 grandchildren, Michele Nevitt and husband, George of New Braunfels, TX, Lance King and wife, Kristen of New Braunfels, TX., Corbettt Foster and wife Kristin of Denver, CO., Kris Hooten and husband, Chad of Whitney, TX., Robyn Rutledge and husband, Dustin of Maypearl, TX., Greg Marsh and wife, Rebecca of Bossier City, LA.; 6 great grandchildren, Tyler and Quint Nevitt, Caden and Jackson Foster, Kayli and Cash Hooten and a sister, Fay Loftis of Conroe, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Lighted Pathways Hospice, PO Box 43731, Seven Points, TX 75143, whose services were the salvation of the King family during the last days of her illness.
