Delores Freels

Delores Schronk Freels, 85, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Medical City in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Michael Nemec of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Malone. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the funeral home.

Born November 9, 1933, in Irene, she was the daughter of Fritz and Frieda (Schreiber) Schronk. On December 19, 1933 she was baptized at Salem-Lutheran Church in Malone and confirmed there on May 4, 1947. She grew up in the Malone area, attending school at the Salem Lutheran School. She was employed by Creditor Manufacturing in Hubbard before starting a 20 plus year career at Wal-Mart. On November 20, 1949, Delores was united in marriage to Harold Freels. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2015.

She helped Harold many a day on the farm. Delores took great delight in keeping her yard in top notch shape and keeping her flowers looking beautiful. When not outside working, she enjoyed sewing and listening to polka and country music on KHBR. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Survivors include her children, Virginia Strauch and husband, Ross, of Malone and Gary Freels of Bynum and Janie Walker of Italy; sister, Clydene Young of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Jennifer Henry and husband, Gary, of China Spring, Kari Salvador and husband, Carlos, of Houston, Tyler Freels and wife, Lindsey, of Conroe, Kelsey Freels of Bellmead, and Brian Timmons and Jeremy Timmons, both of Malone; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church, 915 Corsicana Hwy., Hillsboro, TX 76645.
