There was a story or a memory for every one of the pieces that he worked on. In later years of life when it became difficult for him to handle the large pieces of furniture, he stared building birdhouses, birds, crosses and anything else that someone ask him to do. When he wasn’t working in his shop, he liked just sitting on a stool in the shop looking out the window at the birds and listening to the wind chimes. He also loved going to the State Park and fishing.
Delvin was a member of the First Baptist Church Whitney and served as a deacon and enjoyed singing in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Charlene; and a daughter Phyllis Clark.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Schmidt; children, Pam Standerfer and husband Ron, Doris Coffey and husband, Barry, Dale Burnside and wife Kriste; son-in-law, Gary Clark; sister, Orena Hoberty; and he had 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.
