Denise Zavala

Denise Zavala, 36, of Cleburne, Texas, passed away in Austin, Texas, on July 5, 2024.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro.  Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the funeral home.

Denise was born April 28, 1988, in Peoria, Illinois.  She was a cherished young woman to her family, known for her vibrant spirit and generous heart.

Denise was a certified phlebotomist who utilized her knowledge to serve in the health care sector, working in Home Health Service where she was deeply appreciated for her patience and kindness.  Her commitment to caring for others was evident in both her career and personal life.

A mother to her son, Ezekiel Mike Kirksey, Denise was described as a beautiful soul who radiated love and kindness.  Her fun-loving nature and stylish creativity were adored by many, especially her nieces and nephews.  Denise’s hobbies included spending time with family and friends, listening to music, writing poetry, journaling, and keeping up with the latest styles and fashion trends.

Denise is survived by her son, Ezekiel; father, Angel Zavala; brother, Julio Gonzalez; sisters, Miriam Gomez and Dulce Zavala; nieces, Jasmin, Sonia, and Amy Gomez; nephews, Eric and Romeo Rojas, and Jared Gomez; godfather, Alonzo Munoz; uncles, Martin, Javier, Oliverio, Jesús, José Luis, Cuaotemoc, and Jorge Zavala, and Javier and Antonio Ortega; paternal aunts, Carmen Camargo, Anabertha Garcia, Josephina Perez, and Flor Lopez.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Margarita Ortega.
