Biography

Dennis Kinsey, 61, of Whitney, passed away on August 22, 2013, in Katy. Services for Mr. Kinsey will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney, with burial to follow at 2:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Coryell City. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, August 30, at the funeral home.

Dennis was born in San Angelo, on Feb. 1, l952, to John Franklin and Louise (Richter) Kinsey. With his father in the Air Force, the family moved a lot in his youth. In 1970, Dennis graduated from McGregor High School and from Texas A&M University in 1974, where he earned a BBA degree in accounting . He and Rhonda Joyce Middleton were married on August 21, 1976 in New Waverly.

Following graduation, he went to work for Gulf Oil, which later merged with Chevron, and spent 20 years with the company before joining Dynegy. Since 2003, he had been employed as an IT manager for Capital One Auto Finance. Most of his life was spent in the Houston area until moving to Whitney in 2005. He was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney and the The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University.

Dennis was an avid deer and dove hunter and also enjoyed trotline fishing. He was an amateur sommelier and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of wines with others. Much of his spare time was spent working with computers and enjoying music. Just recently, he had opened a computer repair and coffee roasting shop in Whitney.

He was preceded in death by his father and five brothers, Roger, Rickie, Dickie and Jerry Kinsey, as well as an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda, of Whitney; mother Louise Kinsey of Sealy; two children, Carl Anthony Kinsey and wife, Brooke, of Houston, and Amy Heald of Whitney; brother, Randy Kinsey of Olrando, FL; two sisters, Karen Naida and husband, Tom, of Sealy and Sandra Casey of Conroe; four grandchildren, Madison Heald-Ward, Ezekeul Heald, MacKenzie Hendricks, Canyon Ray Kinsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University or the church or charity of one’s choice.
