Denson Odell Walker

Denson (Denny) Odell Walker, 69, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday January 24, 2024, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Church on the Hill, 2000 Old Brandon Road, Hillsboro, Texas with a burial to follow. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00pm, Monday, January 29, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, 2495 Corsicana Highway, Hillsboro, Texas.

Denny was born May 12, 1954, to Cecil Odell and Johnnie Abbott Walker of Hillsboro. He grew up in Hillsboro and attended Hillsboro ISD. He was in the Hillsboro Junior High School and Hillsboro High School band, choir and FFA. He graduated in 1972 with perfect attendance throughout school. He also attended McLennan Community College and studied nursing. He started his career with Wal-Mart in August of 1978 and continued forty-five years until his death. You could usually hear him sing, whistle or hum while he worked. His love for music continued throughout his life singing in the choir at The First United Methodist Church. He was a part of the praise and worship band throughout the years and was on the Church on the Hill worship team in Hillsboro. He enjoyed going to flea markets, swap meets and antique alley. He was united in marriage to Nancy Davis of Hillsboro in 1980 at the Lighthouse Church.

Denson is survived by his wife of forty-three years; sister, Sharon Zeri of Spanaway, Washington; brothers-in-law James Davis of Hillsboro, Alan Davis and wife Doris of Hillsboro and number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sibling twins Terry and Timmy.
