Denton Mcconathy

Denton D. McConathy, 77 of Whitney passed away on July 25, 2008. He was the son of William Oscar and Salena Offitt McConathy and grew up near Blum in the Blanton area of Hill County. On February 21, 1953, he married LaVerne Cliett. He moved to Ft. worth and worked for General Dynamics for seven years before spending thirty years with Bell Helicopter. Denton moved to Whitney in 1991 following his retirement and was a member of Missionary Baptist Church of Whitney. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers - Orville, Burl, Lonnie, Paul and Ray McConathy; and three sisters - Hazel Graves, Earline Hornsby and Maxine Pope. Survivors include his wife, LaVerne of Whitney; three children, Larry McConathy and wife, Janice of Coleman, Debbie Cook and husband Bob of Burleson and Johnny McConathy of Whitney; three brothers, Boyce McConathy of Sierra Vista, AZ, Jimmy McConathy and wife, Virginia of Ft.Worth, and Francis McConathy and wife, Norma of Aquilla; sister-in-law, Elizabeth McConathy of Whitney; seven grandchildren, Montana, Tennessee and Austin McConathy, Kelly and Dusti David, Aspen and Colton McConathy and 1 great grandson, Matthew.
