Dolores Lara Ramirez, 90, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph I. Thekkumthala officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Dolores was born April 1, 1922 in Normangee to Christino And Emilia (Rodriquez) Lara. She grew up in Normangee and Bryan, where she attended school. On November 23, 1940, she married Vicente Ramirez in Hillsboro, where she lived for 71 years. During her life in Hillsboro, Dolores was a homemaker that raised two children, Ricardo and Rosemary. She also worked as an interpreter for the probation office and Hill County Judge for 15 years. A member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, she belonged to its Legion Mary and the Ladies Guild. Dolores liked to work for the church most of all. She asked God to help her learn how to quilt and if he would, she would make a quilt every year for the church bazaar. God did help Dolores learn how and she made one for him every year.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Fransisco Lara; and sisters, Josephine Avila, Frances Bravo, Simona Garcia, and Julia Pineda.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 71 years, Vicente Ramirez of Hillsboro; son Ricardo Ramirez of Weatherford; daughter, Rosemary Ramirez of Dallas; two grandchildren, Amelinda Ramirez-Justus and husband, Nathan, Sr., and Litcia Demmitt; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Ramirez-Demmitt, Christina Birdwell, Savannah Ramirez, Tennessee Justus, and Nathan Justus, Jr.; two great-great grandchildren, October Sky Smith and Aliyah Birdwell.
