Don Austin

Don Austin, 81, of Whitney, passed away on January 21, 2016, at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2016, at Whitney Church of Christ with Mr. Bruce Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.

Don was born in Grand Prairie, on April 28, 1934, to Keller Blev and Margarite (Simmons) Austin. After graduation from Grapevine High School in 1952, he attended business school in Fort Worth for a year. He served his country in the United States Air Force for four years.

On October 19, 1957, he married Shirley Teague in Batesville, Arkansas. He worked for General Dynamics for 17 years before going to work for Corometris as a biomedical technician, retiring in 1996.

An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed traveling. Don had been a resident of Whitney since 1977 and was member of Whitney Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Doug Austin.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Austin of Whitney; sons, Don Austin, II and Dan Austin, both of Whitney; three grandsons, three granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and a great-grandson.
