Don C. Watson, 76, of Peoria, passed away early Tuesday morning. Don was born March 29, 1933 in Perryton, Texas the son of John Roy and Faith Taliferro Newman Watson. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Fort Worth where he grew up and lived a large part of his life. He met and married Betty Laverne Smart on Dec. 24, 1953. After a stint in the Army based at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, they returned to Fort Worth. Don was employed with Cummins Sales & Service for 33 years, most of which was in the position of Personnel Manager. In 1991, he retired to his farm in Peoria where he raised Boer Goats and played golf. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and a 3rd Degree member of Council #10375 Knights of Columbus in Hillsboro. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Richard Lane Watson, John Roy Watson, Jr., and Roger Dean Watson; and a sister, Erin Patricia Jackson. Survivors includ his wife of 55 years, Betty Watson of Peoria; son, Don C. Skeeter Watson, Jr. of San Marcos; sister, Barbara Merle Glanton of Haltom City; and several nieces and nephews.
