Donald Cypert

Donald Ray Cypert, 82, of Bedford passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013, at a nursing facility near his home in Bedford. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Saturday prior to service time at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Donald was born March 3, 1931 in Bosqueville near Waco, to Mary Annie Williams Cypert and William Carroll Cypert. He grew up in the Union Bluff community west of Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948. After high school, he attended Draughon’s Business College in Waco. He started his career working for Wm. Cameron & Co. in Waco and Waxahachie. After a few years, he went to work for Nash Robinson Co. in Waco and worked there until retirement. Donald was an amateur golfer and for several years went on an annual golfing vacation to South Texas with a few of his golfing buddies. For many years, he was a weekend care-giver to his Mother and widowed aunts in Hillsboro.

Although Donald used computers in his work before retirement, he never liked them. He never embraced most of the technologies that are so popular these days. He paid a lot of attention to detail and documented most everything. He documented when something was bought, when it was paid for, when it broke, etc. His calendar is dotted with notes, memorandums, and appointments, etc. He was a tinkerer. He would try to fix everything before discarding it.

Due to health reasons, Donald left his circle of friends in Waco and moved to Bedford in 2011 to be near family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Willie Lowell Cypert; and two sisters, Martha Slater and Laneva LaCour.

Survivors include one brother, Kenneth Cypert and wife, Joyce; one sister, Doris Mash and husband, Glenn; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Donald will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice.
