Donald Eastland, Jr.

Donald Eastland Jr. (Bubba to friends and family) passed away of natural causes on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at his home in Hillsboro, Texas.

Bubba was born on November 22, 1965, in Waco, Texas. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High in 1984; going on to the only school for him - THE UNIVERSARY of TEXAS where he received a BA in History. In 1987, Bubba began working for Bob Bullock in the Comptroller’s Office in the revenue accounting division in Austin. He requested a transfer to the enforcement division in Waco to be able to return to Hillsboro to take care of his parents and be close to his life-long friends from childhood. He supervised the Belton- Bryan and Waco field offices where he became the Field Manager for Waco. He was affectionately called “Don-Bob” by many of his coworkers and friends in enforcement. He retired from the Comptroller’s office in 2016, after 29 years in the service to Texas. In the short time after his retirement, Bubba spent time remodeling his home and yard, enjoying family and friends, playing with his dog, hunting, fishing, and taking care of his parents.

Bubba loved history, his hometown, his family and friends, all things Texas; especially the LONGHORNS and a good party. Bubba loved to host large and small events. His home was the meeting place for all his friends. There were parties for Cowboy games and Longhorn games. He even had a party when his old Chevy hit 200,000 miles and still ran fine. Each year he hosted a Fourth of July barbeque for family and friends as they watched the Late Bloomer’s Parade from the front yard as it passed his house.

Bubba is survived by his mother Mary Alice Eastland, his father Donald Eastland Sr., his sisters Susan Nelle Polansky and Sarah Alice Eastland, his brother Daniel Eastland, his nephew Christopher Eastland and his wife Wendy Blackburn Eastland, his niece Nelle Alexandra Polansky, many cousins and dear friends that are forever family.

A private family service is planned. If you knew Bubba, you’d know he would not want flowers, but if you planted a tree or made a donation to Paw Pals he would have really loved that.
