Donald Francis

Don Maurice Francis passed away on June 10, 2018, in Hillsboro, Texas at the age of ninety. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. All are welcome.

Don was born May, 17, 1928, in Oneida, New York, to Clifford Benjamin Francis and Florence E. Jones. From 1948-1952, he served in the U.S. Navy and was commissioned a warrant officer aboard the aircraft carrier USS Leyte. During his service, Don gained valuable experience as an electrician, and after returning to civilian life, he worked as an electrical inspector and certified Master Electrician.

Following Don’s military service, fellow serviceman Wesley Allen introduced him to his sister Sara Jo. Don and Sara were married and settled in Texas, where they raised their children, Fred Worthy and Robbie Renea. A hard worker and a devoted family man, Don spent the rest of his life providing for his family and taking endless pride in their achievements.

For more than five decades, Don owned and operated his own business, Francis Electric Co., through which he contributed to the growth and development of the Dallas–Ft. Worth Metroplex and North Texas. He not only supported his family through his tireless industry but also employed many of his extended family members over the years. He gave help to everyone who needed it, often without even being asked, and he did it out of pure love of family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sara, his son, Fred and wife, Kathy, his brother, Jerry and wife, Georgia. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Fred Francis and wife, Catherine, Julianna Viertel and husband, Dustin, Jennifer Jensen and husband, Dustin, Joe Francis and wife, Emily, and Sarah Hultquist and husband, Mark; and seven great-grandchildren, Marshall, Ashley, David, James, Nathan, Mark, and Isaac. Don was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Robbie Renea.
