Donald “Donny” Robinson, 57, of Whitney, passed on Monday, November 25, 2013, in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2013, at White Bluff Chapel in Whitney with the Rev. Terry Cosby officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 30, 2013, from 6-8 PM at the Marshall and Marshall
Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Donny was born on May 13, 1956, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Thomas Junior and Edith Marie (Hicks) Robinson. He moved to Texas when he was 13 years old and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1974 and served his country in the United States Army. On June 19, 2002, he married Ruby Lewis. The joy of his life, his daughter, Skyelar, was born on November 24, 1998. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and he loved coaching Skyelar in sports in the Whitney Youth Association. He was her number one fan at her school sports events. Fishing and golfing were some of his favorite pastimes and he even has the distinction of making a hole-in-one on the White Bluff golf course. Donny was a member of White Bluff Chapel and worked there at the time of his illness.
During his lifetime, he also worked at TXU, Transit Mix and the Wal-Mart distribution center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe Robinson and John Robinson; nephew Dakota Sinclair; father-in-law, Charles Lewis; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Valerie Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Robinson of Whitney; daughter Skyelar Marie Robinson of Whitney; grandmother, Lillie Rooks of Gainesville, Georgia; mother-in-law Claudette Lewis; sisters-in-law, Susan Sinclair and husband, Harold and Virginia Bradley and husband, Tommy all of Whitney; brother-in-law, Roy Lewis and wife, Susie, of Burleson; nieces and nephews: Brittany Siegel and husband Eric, of Angleton; Brad Landrum, Jaclyn Peacock and husband, Lynn, Justin Neal and wife, Lakecia, Derek Landrum and wife, Chassie, all of Whitney; Cassandra Sexton and husband, Howard, Stephanie Vantreese and husband Ray, and Cody Lewis, all of Hillsboro; Shawn Lewis, Chad Lewis and wife, Misty of Keene; many great-nieces and great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; great aunts and uncles as well as many cousins, including, Ronnie and Jackie, Ricky and Libby, Lamar and Gilda, Don and Trudy, Steve and David, all of Gainesville, Georgia.
