Donald Clifford Sewall, 86, of Hillsboro passed away June 15, 2012 at a Hillsboro hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 19, at Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Beggs officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directos in Hillsboro.
Donald was born on October 3, 1925 in Neenah, Wisconsin, to Arnold Roy and Veronica (Lehrer) Sewall. He served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific theater. Following his military service he attended Wisconsin Institute of Technology and the Missouri School of Mines where he earned his bachelor's degree.
He came to Texas in 1952 and married Evelyn Ann Routh on May 30, 1953 in Brownwood. He worked as a civil engineer including stints with both the Texas Highway Department and the Texas Railroad Commission, where he served as regional engineer. An active member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro, he and Evelyn also volunteered for a number of years with the Texas Baptist Men Retiree Builders. He was also a member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge and a past post commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hillsboro.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings; sister, Priscilla D'Amour, and brothers, Gordon, James, Arnold, and David Sewall. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Hillsboro; four children, Thomas A. Sewall and wife, Marilyn of Fort Worth, John A. Sewall and wife, Vanita of Celina, Donna Sewall Dockall and husband, Gary of Friendswood, and Richard J. Sewall and wife, Lisa of Hillsboro; two brothers, Fredrick J. Sewall and wife, Carol of Neenah, Wisconsin and Clair Sewall of Appleton, Wisconsin; also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Sarah Sewall of Houston, Veronica Steadman and husband, Patrick of Fort Hood; Amanda Sewall and fiance, Leo Spurgin of Celina, Christina Sewall of Celina, Matthew, Rebecca, and Leeann Dockall all of Friendswood, Andrea Nors and husband, Aaron of Abbott, and Scott Sewall and wife, Anna of Hillsboro; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
