Donna Handy

Donna Renee Handy, 51, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday morning, July 19, 2016, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Derrell Surface of First Assembly of God Church in Hillsboro officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the funeral home.

Born June 16, 1965 in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Joyce (Mayo) and Kenneth Bowers, Sr. On June 19, 1986, Donna was united in marriage to David Handy in Meridian. For about 10 years, she was employed by Towne Square Furniture in Hillsboro and also at Tarrant Abstract in Fort Worth for 5 years. Most recently, she worked for the past 7 years with Outreach Health Care.

A very faithful and active member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hillsboro, she loved her church very much. Spending Friday nights with her family brought great joy to Donna.

Preceding her in death were her father, Kenneth Bowers, Sr. on October 10, 1998; brother, Kenneth Bowers, Jr. on October 27, 2008; and nephew, Tommy Scott Smith.

Survivors include her loving husband of 30 years, David Handy of Hillsboro; two daughters, Ashlee and Amanda Handy of Hillsboro; mother, Joyce Bowers of Hillsboro; mother-in-law: Dorothy Handy of Hillsboro; brother, Daniel Bowers and wife, Jane, of Burleson; two sisters, Dennette Hamilton and husband, Randy, of Itasca and Gwen Ward and husband, Bailey, of Hillsboro; grandson, Hunter Ray Waits of Hillsboro; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a host of friends.
