Donnie Carroll Reid

On May 11, 2020, Donnie Carroll Reid, loving husband, father and Papa, passed away at home after a courageous battle, surrounded by family, at the age of 73.   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.  Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors with Rev. Eddie Booth officiating.   Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.   A lying-in-state will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the funeral home.

Donnie was born on November 26, 1946, in Bastrop, Texas, to Willard Wilson Reid and Gladys Marie (Smith) Reid. He grew up in Smithville, Texas and married his wife Judith on April 24, 1965, at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Oak Hill, Texas. They had three children, two sons William and Steven, and a daughter Julie.

He became a welder for Brown & Root on the same day he was married and then traveled all over the southern part of the United States. In 1970, he began driving a truck, spending most of his years working for D.L. Williams Wood Products hauling across the country.

Donnie had a passion for driving and seeing the United the States but his biggest accomplishment was his family. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with all of his heart. He is remembered as being hardworking and an honest person by everyone that knew him. He was a one of a kind man and all enjoyed his company.

Preceding him in death were his Father, Willard Wilson Reid and Mother, Gladys Marie (Smith) Reid; brothers, A.W. Reid, Willard Wilson Jr. Reid;  sister Virginia Lee Reid; brother-in-law Charles Miles; and sister-in-law Carolyn Reid.

Survivors include his wife Judith; sister Glenda Miles; brothers Billy Reid and Roger Reid; children William T. Reid (Tammy), Steven Reid, and Julie Cockrell (James); grandchildren Brian Reid (Jolinda), Megan Allen (Chad), Lanie Frazier (Aaron), Matthew Reid (Taylor), Lacey Tadlock (Zachary), Elijah Guthrie (Bailey) and Tyler Reid (Kayley); great grandchildren Braylon Reid, Jaylei Reid, Aniyah Reid, Ayden Reid, Kaedence Allen, Jaxon Reid, Ryker Frazier, Mesa Frazier, Gracie Reid, Paisley Reid, Maverick Reid, JennaLee Tadlock, and Gunner Tadlock; and his beloved dog, Tippy Reid.
