Donnie Cleabert Rogers

Donnie Rogers, age 86, of Whitney, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Hillsboro, Texas. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the King Memorial Methodist Church in Whitney, Texas.

Donnie was born on January 16, 1937, to his parents, Carl and Earline Rogers in Canyon, Texas, where he grew up and attended Canyon schools. He worked on remodeling and building houses, also working in the cabinet shop for the West Texas State University. Donnie loved to ride horses, motorcycles, and was always a hard working guy. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army. Donnie lived in New Mexico for four years 1973-1976, where he loved fishing and hunting. He also helped to build 110 Indian houses on the Mescalero Apache Reservation.

In 1978, he moved to Whitney, Texas, in housing construction and later worked for Whitney ISD retiring in 2011.

Donnie was a sweet and determined man, a real trooper, he loved working with his hands and could fix mostly anything.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Earline Rogers; son, Kerry Don; daughter, Dolinda June; his brothers, Delbert and Robert Rogers.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon; son, Shane and wife Staci of Whitney and grandsons Dax and Rux, whom he adored and loved very much; daughter in-law, Ethel; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
