Doris Marie Haygood

Doris Marie Haygood, 91, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney with Rev. Derrell Surface of First Assembly of God Church in Hillsboro officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the cemetery prior to service time on Friday. A reception will follow the graveside service will be held at First Assembly of God Church, 401 North Pleasant, Hillsboro, TX 76645. Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Doris was born November 24, 1923 in Hill County to James Douglas and Lizzie Ethel (Emory) Davenport. On August 18, 1942, she was united in marriage to Henry “Buddy” Haygood and he preceded her in death on September 16, 1990. Always wanting to make sure her family was taken care of, Doris loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone whom she thought needed it, whether they wanted it or not. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing. She was of the Assembly of God faith.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; six brothers, Chester, Marshall, Alton, Tommy, R. T. and an infant brother; six sisters, Lizzie, Jessie, Ethel, Ellie Mae, Mildred, and Lucille; granddaughter, Jessica Haygood; and great-great granddaughter, Kylee Haygood.

Survivors include her three children, Charles Ray Haygood, D’Gena Thompson, and Ann Ward and husband, Bobby; sister, Ruby Mae Cathey and husband, Doyle; seven grandchildren, Garland Ray Haygood and wife, Virginia, Dedria Haygood, Kelly Shane McGrath, Kara McGrath Geilman and husband, Greg, Christy Lynn Whitney, Melissa Yvette Whitney Green; and Jarrod Erik Whitney and wife, Kimberly; 12 great-grandchildren, Clinton Ray Haygood, Aaron Colt Haygood, Justin Haygood, T. J. McGrath, Lloyd McGrath, Tiffany Lynn Weeks and husband, Chris, A. J. Booth, Heather Rust and husband, Curtis, Matthew Wayne Scott, Dustin Michael Scott, Andria Wirth, and Donny Wirth; and 11 great-great grandchildren, Bailey Marie Haygood, Hunter Ray Haygood, Colton Haygood, Bryan Haygood, Carson Haygood, Kalen Haygood, Daphine Haygood, Curtis Wayne Rust, Carson Rust, Paysen Summer Weeks, and Piper Madison Weeks; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
