Doris Bennett McPeak, 99, of Waco passed away Monday, November 21, 2011, at Regent Care Center in Woodway. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Bro. Greg Moore of Top Hand Cowboy Church in Waco officiating.
Doris was born April 7, 1912 in Whitney to Opha Lee and Laura (Williams) Bennett. As a child, she moved to Wastelie and later to the Plainview area. On May 18, 1930 she married Joe McPeak in Floydada. She worked as a sales clerk at Wal-Mart and Perry’s while in Plainview. Following their retirement, they moved to Whitney in 1973. She loved to cook, feed her family, sew, crochet, and was a meticulous housekeeper. She was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in August 1991; daughter, Connie J. Wagner; grandson, Brent Wagner; 10 brothers, Charlie, Lee, Jewel, Ollie, Hollie, William, “Doc”, Roy, Vinson, and Melvin; and 3 sisters, Thelma Powell, Ila Powell, and Avenell Blackwell.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Stolle and husband, Tom, of Waco; 7 grandchildren, Marta Evans, Alan Wagner, Audie Wagner, Claudie Wagner, Shan Miller, Valerie Smith, and Kerry Ellis; 13 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; 3 great-great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
