In celebration of the life of Doris Young Skidmore, 86, of Hillsboro. God called her to her eternal home, to be greeted by her husband and numerous relatives on Monday, February 12, 2007. Doris was born November 7, 1920 near Abbott, Texas the daughter of Ernest and Maude Della Greenhill Young. She was raised in the Abbott area and spent most of her life in Hill County. On June 24, 1939 she married Olin Skidmore in Hillsboro and he preceded her in death after 49 years of marriage on March 30, 1988. A member of College Hill Church of Christ, she taught numerous children in Bible Class. For a brief time while residing in the Fort Worth area, she attended the Richland Hills Church of Christ and volunteered in the food pantry. Doris was a wonderful mother to one child. To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as Mam-ma. Her nieces and nephews called her Daw-Daw. Doris was known for her delicious meals and infectious smile. Anyone who sat at her table was allowed to eat dessert before their meal! Also preceding her in death were her parents and only brother, E. W. Young, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Smith Gibson Webb and husband, Fane, of Keller; three grandchildren, Sean Smith and wife, Debbie, of Arlington, Staci Guy of Keller, and Alayna Mize and husband, Lance, of Dallas; three great-grandchildren, Devyn and Bryana Guy of Keller and Kylie Mize of Dallas; eight sisters, Joyce Lee, Virgie Bell, Frances Smith, Jeanette Page, Elaine Murff, Betty Herring, and Patsy Miller all of the Houston area; and Anita McDonald of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
