Doris Skidmore

Doris Skidmore, 92, of Hillsboro died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home. Doris was born November 3, 1913 in Abbott, Texas the daughter of John Seldon and Lena Lee Bills Hoyle. She lived in Abbott most of her life and completed school there. For a number of years she worked as an attendant at the Coin Laundry on East Franklin in Hillsboro. On October 16, 1934 she married Robert Odell Skidmore and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1979. She loved working with flowers in her flowers beds and with house plants. She was an excellent cook and had a sweet and gentle disposition. She was a member of South Side Church of Christ in Hillsboro. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Clovis Hoyle. Survivors include her children, Ruth Kruger of Mineral Wells and Robert Skidmore and wife, Phyllis, of Hillsboro; sister, Era Kennedy of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Billy Kruger of Abbott, Cindy Bowman and husband, Roy, of Mineral Wells, and Robbie Skidmore and wife, Tina, of Abbott; five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Kyle Kruger of Abbott, Sarah Bowman of Mineral Wells, and Logan and Robert Charles Skidmore of Abbott.
