Doris Stock

Doris Stock, 79, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Heart Hospital Baylor in Plano. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph Thekkumthala officiating. Burial will follow at New Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with visitation to follow until 9:00 p.m.

Born November 23, 1935 in Garwood, she was the daughter of Eugene and Pearlie Ella (Opperman) Kotrla. She grew up and attended schools in Rock Island and later completed nursing school in Columbus where she received her LVN certification. Since 1956, she had worked as an LVN for Canterbury Villa Nursing Home and Grant Buie Hospital and was currently employed at Park Plaza Nursing Home in Whitney. On January 27, 1957, Doris was united in marriage to Marvin Stock in Columbus. Doris enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, going on trips with her sisters, cooking, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, and decorating. Spending time with her grandchildren and going to big family get-togethers brought great joy to her life. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Audrey Kanak.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Marvin Stock of Hillsboro; two daughters, Jennifer Stock of Dallas and Connie Taylor and husband, Greg, of Stamford; two sisters, Billie Jean Mayes and husband, Billy, of Rock Island and Earlene Botard of Sheridan; two grandchildren, Brandy Cook and husband, Rickey, of Aquilla and Gregory Don Taylor, Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Haskell; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Sidney, and Caleb Cook, all of Aquilla, and Cannon Taylor of Haskell; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
