Mrs. Doris Wilson, 87, of Lake Whitney, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at her residence in Country Club Retirement Community in Whitney. A graveside service under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Brother Larry Rolison will officiate. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Doris was born on February 2, 1930, in Hillsboro to the late William Issac and Nellie LeNora (Adams) Clymer. On November 2, 1946, she married Silas Weldon Wilson and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. They lived in Hillsboro until 1973 before moving to Lake Whitney where they enjoyed their latter years together.
Doris worked as a bookkeeper for the Wilson family at their family owned Wilson Plumbing Company in Hillsboro until the end of 1982 and then co-served with Weldon as Hill County Veterans Senior Officer for 23 years until 2006.
A lifetime member of American Legion Auxillary, Lake Whitney Post #522, where she served as President, Vice-President and Chaplin as well as various other offices both locally and in District 6.
She was known lovingly as “MeMe” to her grandchildren and “MeMeII” to her great-grandchildren as well as being a role model and foundation for her family to live up to.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon; her son, Steve Wilson; four brothers, Bill, Tommy, James and Finley Clymer; and one sister, Melrose Simmon.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Pollock and husband, Danny and Nancy Shaw and husband, Don; daughter-in-law, Shelia Wilson; twelve grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson and husband, Scott, Johnny Wilson, Kristi Meehan and husband, James, Jason and Angela Cromeans, Cari Pennington and husband, Rick, Brian Pollock and wife, Glenna, Jamie Fallon, Ginger Bruyn and husband, Severyn, Scott Neal and wife, Katherine, Marcus Shaw, and Rachael Shaw and husband, Ronnie, Alex Shaw and wife, Jennifer; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Eulaiee Kindt, and numerous nieces and nephews.
