Dorotha Frazier Newton, 89, loving wife, mother, great grandmother, and teacher of North Richalnd Hills passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Dorotha was born October 18, 1918 in Bynum, Texas. She received a BS degree in Education and was awarded her Masters Degree, both from the University of North Texas in Denton. Dorotha had lived in the Fort Worth area since 1955 and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She loved her profession and spent the majority of her career teaching children at Burton Hill Elementary School in Fort Worth. After a teaching career of 40 years, she retired in June 1989 from the Fort Worth ISD where she taught for 34 years. In 1996 after incurring a stroke, she relocated from her home in Fort Worth to the Sterling House Assisted Care facility in North Richland Hills where she lived with many friends and loving care-givers. Preceding her in death were her husband, Tommy Newton, in 1955 and a brother, Norman Frazier in 1996. Survivors include two sons, Tom R. Newton and wife, Peggy, of Crowley and Bill F. Newton and wife, Peggy, of Bynum; five grandchildren, Scott Newton, Teri Newton, Amy Swinarsky and husband, Derrick, Julie Hankins and husband Brian, and Spencer Newton and wife, Kati; two great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Caroline; and three cousins who were raised as her brother and sisters: Nora McMahan, George Millard, and Margaret Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Methodist Children?s Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, TX 76708.
