Biography
Dorothy H. Beavers, 93 of Hillsboro passed away on July 2, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Ken James officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Dorothy was born on August 30, 1918 in Hillsboro to E. F. “Mutt” and Ollie V. (Jones) Hamilton. She grew up in Hill County and graduated from Itasca High School and also attended Hillsboro Junior College. On December 11, 1943, she married Jack Dudley Beavers in Hillsboro. After Jack returned from the war, the couple moved to Lubbock and then to Houston in 1949 following his graduation from Texas Tech University. They later moved to Tomball until Jack’s retirement. In 1984, the couple returned to Hillsboro.
Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Jack D. Beavers of Hillsboro, daughter, Emily McMullen and husband Bert of Blooming Grove; 4 nephews and nieces, John Beavers and wife, Anna of Richmond, Sallie Lyons of Spring Branch, Linda McWhorter and husband, David of Spring Branch, and Thomas Beavers of Houston; close friend, Debbie Karlicek and husband, Henry and their daughters, Amanda and Carolyn; and her pets Freckles and Beetlebaum.
