Dorothy Crowe

Dorothy Sylvia Crowe, 93, of Hillsboro died Sunday, July 26, 2015, in Waco. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Kenneth James and Rev. Danny Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Sylvia was born December 12, 1921, in Sagerton near Haskell, daughter of Herman and Otilia Jander Neinast. On December 31, 1943, she married Vernon Cecil Crowe in Weatherford. During World War II, she was employed at Consolidated Vault Aircraft in Fort Worth. She moved to Hillsboro in 1947, where she was employed by the Ministerial Alliance as church greeter for eight years and the Hillsboro Independent School District as a teacher aide/secretary for 19 years, retiring in 1987.

She was an avid tennis player during high school and had a special talent for playing the harmonica. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hillsboro.
Preceding her in death were her parents; six sisters; one brother; and one daughter-in-law, Patricia Sides Crowe of Abilene.

Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Sue Hughes of Ferris; one son, Randy Cecil Crowe of College Station; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Grimes Wilson and husband, Kevin, of Nordheim, Erin Grimes Barron and husband, Paul, of Ferris, Jennifer Crowe Lechler and husband, Shane, of College Station, Kassie Crowe Moore and husband, Jeremy, of Anna and Brian Crowe and wife, Ali, of College Station; and 12 great-grandchildren.
