Dorothy Gaines

Dorothy Curtis Gaines, 86, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at James L. West Hospice House in Ft. Worth. Her body will lie in state beginning Friday afternoon. Dorothy was born May 6, 1923 in Bynum, Texas, where she grew up, the daughter of Enoch and Ethel Utley Curtis. In 1940 she graduated from Bynum High School and received a BS degree from North Texas Teachers College in 1944. She went to work for White Oak Schools in 1951. She was of the Church of Christ faith. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Edward O. Curtis, in 1944. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Esta Lee Curtis, and cousin, Jimmy Curtis, both of Hillsboro; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
