Dorothy George, of Whitney, passed away on June 1, 2017 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. A memorial graveside servicewill be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro, under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors of Whitney.
Dorothy was born on October 13, 1918, in Barter Springs, Kansas, to John and Mamie (Berry) Crowell and grew up there. She married Norbert George while he was in the Navy during World War II. After his service, they lived in Bremerton, Washington, the Tucson, Arizona, briefly in Colorado before finally settling in Whitney. A lifetime homemaker, Dorothy was of the Catholic faith and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was an excellent seamstress. An animal lover, she groomed dogs for many years in Whitney.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bob George; two brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include her nephews, Ricky Crowell of Whitney and Richard Evans of Safford, Arizona and a niece, Carolyn Dabbs of Safford, Arizona.
