Biography

Dorothy Lee Johnson, 94, of West passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017, at West Rest Haven. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Marshall & Marshall in Hillsboro.

Dorothy was born on August 21, 1922 in Osceola to George and Annie Mae (Brown) James. She grew up and attended school in Osceola. On May 4, 1940, she married Orval B. Johnson in Grandview and he preceded her in death on November 15, 2006. Dorothy worked as a seamstress for 20 years at Malouf’s Manufacturing. Her church membership is at the Northside Church of Christ in Bellmead. She was preceded in death by an infant brother; sisters, Viola Johnson, Lucille Smith, and Irene Qualls; and brother, Marvin James.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Ronnie Johnson and wife, Mary, of Bellmead, Roy Dale Johnson and wife, Betty, of West, Raphael Johnson and wife, Rita, of West, and Gale Cogliati and husband, Dennis, of Waco; 19 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; 3 great-great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
