Biography

Dorothy Jonas, 81 of Whitney passed away on April 8, 2012.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Dr. Allan Lane officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born on April 3, 1931 in Pampa, Texas to Ernest and Eunice (Land) Sunkel. She grew up in South Texas. On April 8, 1950 she married Milton Jonas in Karnes City. They moved to Whitney in 1968. She had worked as an LVN for several years and was a member of the Whitney chapter of #930 Eastern Star. Dorothy was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Arthur Roy Jonas in 1986 and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Milton Jonas of Whitney; daughter, Carol Sue Jonas Simons and husband, Rick of Belton; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Jonas, Edwin Jonas, Casie Boynton and husband, Rob, Jeremy Ellis, Mikey Simons; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
