Dorothy Kennedy

Dorothy Elizabeth Kennedy, 99, of Blum, passed away on July 21, 2016, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. on July 23, 2016,, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Mr. Raymond Pruitt of Blum Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Blanton Cemetery near Blum. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born on June 14, 1917, in Tulia, to Lester and Ida (Nuzum) Hamilton. On January 10, 1943, she married E.C. Kennedy and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2005.

A homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting and traveling as well as working in her garden and tending to her flowers. She was a member of Blum Church of Christ and the Blum Chapter of Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter Virginia Alward; a sister Bessie Mae Arnold; 4 grandchildren, Jerry Alward, Stephen and David Alward, Robyn Koonsman and a great-granddaughter, Hope Koonsman.

Survivors include sons, John Kennedy and wife, Carolyn of Blum, Paul Kennedy and wife Gayle of Golden and daughter, Jane Brown and husband, Lewis of Blum; 8 grandchildren, Donna Burton of Groom, Terry Alward and wife, Brenda of Dumas, LaDonna Jean and husband, Dean of Blum, Kathy Liefeste and husband, Chad of Center Pointe, Debbie McFarland and husband, Todd of Blum, Jamie Koonsman of Blum, Paul Kennedy, Jr., and wife, Teresa of Austin and Nancy Broden and husband, Clint of Dallas; 12 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
