Dorothy Mae (Helton) Radke

Dorothy Mae Radke, 86, of Mertens passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Hillcrest in Waco.  Private family services will be held.

Dorothy Mae Radke was born on May 12, 1937, to Barney Helton and Bessie Goodwin Helton.  She grew up with two younger siblings, Jimmy Helton and Sharon Warren.

In November of 1956, she wed Jimmy Radke and together they had three children, Debbie Schronk, Bubba Radke, and Dean Radke.  Dorothy took up the craft of sewing from the necessity of making the family’s clothing.  Later in 1969, she turned that craft into Radke’s Custom Drapery, making drapery and décor for homes throughout central Texas.

Her life was spent devoted to her Christian faith in being a loyal wife, mother, and grandmother.  Among her favorite things in life were the yearly camping trips with her grandchildren, her antiquing business, and any time spent with family.

She is survived by her husband, three children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
