Dorothy J. Robinson, 88, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco.


Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.


Dorothy was born January 4, 1923 in Dallas to the late Henry Ludwig and Nettie (Bruce) Schmidt. She grew up in Oak Cliff and completed high school there. In 1944 she received her B. A. degree in English from the University of Texas. She went to work for American Airlines as a reservationist after college. On December 3, 1945 she married Gene Robinson, Jr. and he preceded her in death on October 14, 1978. They lived in Dallas until moving to El Paso for 10 years. While living in El Paso, she worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company.


In 1950, the couple moved to San Mateo, CA and in 1965 to Cleveland, OH for two years before returning to California. She moved to Whitney to be near family in 1978. For many years she worked in the office at Wal-Mart in Hillsboro. After retiring, she also worked at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.


A warm, outgoing person, she was a very devoted animal lover. Dorothy was of the Presbyterian faith.


Also preceding her in death was her brother, H. L. Schmidt.


Survivors include her children, Dianna Hall of Pacifica, CA and Dr. Gene Robinson and wife, Dana, of Kodiak, AK; four grandchildren, Greg Dyer and wife, Denett, of Tracy, CA, John Dyer of Foothill Ranch, CA, Angela Robinson of Oakland, CA, and Neal Robinson of Aiea, HI; and two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Abigail Dyer.
