Dorothy Louise (Heckman) Shadle

Dorothy Louise Heckman Shadle was born December 10, 1927, in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Margaret Heckman.  She was a graduate of Gregg Township High School and the Lock Haven School of Nursing.  Dorothy was a retired Registered Nurse.

On May 20, 1949, Dorothy married Jack Ward Shadle who preceded her in death on May 27, 2007.  Jack and Dorothy lived in Norristown, Pennsylvania until 1961 when they moved with their two children to Hillsboro, Texas because of Jack's job transfer.  Hillsboro was their home for forty-five years, where they were members of Christ Lutheran Church.  Dorothy was a member of the Esther Guild at Christ Lutheran, and a life member of Les Causeuses Club.  In 2005 as Jack's health began to fail, they moved to Sugar Land, Texas to be near their son.  In 2010, a few years after Jack's death, Dorothy moved to Germantown, Tennessee to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, and a sister.  Survivors include her children, John W. Shadle and Patricia Miller and husband Paul, a sister, Barbara A. Mark and husband Paul of Spring Mills, Pennsylvania, a brother, E. James Heckman and wife Erma of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, April Tremor and husband Justin, Stacey Shadle-Duncan and husband Josh, Kelly Shadle and fiancé Shay Stevens, and Jonathan Shadle and fiancée Margaret Davis.  Dorothy is also survived by six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy died December 25, 2021, at the age of 94 years.  Due to the ongoing pandemic, a small visitation was held at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Home on December 31, 2021, followed by a graveside service and burial at Hillcrest Garden of Memories, Hillsboro, Texas.  Pastor Michael Nemec of Christ Lutheran Church officiated, with special music provided by Jonathan Shadle.
