Dorothy Faye (Elvington) Shaw

Dorothy Faye (Elvington) Shaw passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, in Burleson, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Boulevard Baptist Church, 315 North Burleson Boulevard, Burleson. She will lie in state from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, on Friday, January 19, 2024. A burial will take place at 2:30 pm, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Whitney Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 22, Whitney, Texas.

She was born in Tioga, Texas on August 24, 1938, to Rollie and Alice (Solomon) Elvington. Dorothy attended school in Whitney, Texas. She was united in marriage to Jimmy Strickland on December 21, 1956, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 1973. Dorothy later married Jerry Shaw who preceded her in death on April 24, 2022.

Dorothy enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked as a hostess in the restaurant business.

Preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jimmy Strickland; daughters Deborah Strickland and pamela Duckworth; granddaughter, Robin Meyers; second husband, Jerry Shaw; and son-in-law, Mark Dodd, she is survived by her children, Teresa Dodd, Linda Carter and her husband, Dennis, Michelle Strickland, and Elizabeth Shaw Mayfield; her brothers, Bobby Elvington and his wife, Deanna, and Billy Elvington and his wife, Karen; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
