Dorothy Lee Smith, 92, of Alvarado passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018, in Alvarado at the Alvarado Meadows Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Bruce Martin of the Whitney Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Vaughan Cemetery in Vaughan. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to service Tuesday, December 18, at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born on March 12, 1926, in Aquilla, to Willie Lee and Lucille (Williams) Mahoney. She grew up in Aquilla, and graduated from Aquilla High School. She was united in marriage to Troy Patterson on December 10, 1949 in Arkansas. Dorothy and her Husband Troy operated several businesses together, including tropical fish, plants, and engraving. Troy preceeded her in death on July 9, 1993. She later was united in marriage to a high school sweetheart, Jack Smith on April 9, 1995. They resided together in Johnson County Texas.
Dorothy was a sweet, creative, and accomplished person. She loved and was totally involved in the lives of her family, especially her beloved daughter Terri. Dorothy pursued hobbies involving arts and crafts, sewing and painting. She was an active member of the Church of Christ.
Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Smith, of Alvarado; her children, Terri Morrison Dyer and husband John of Aley, TX, and Guy Smith of Dallas, TX; brothers, Charles Mahoney and wife Virgie of Euless, TX.
