Douglas Ray "Heavy Hook" Walker, 62, passed away on April 30, 2019 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney with Rev. Jay Morris of First Baptist Church of Whitney officiating. He will lie in state on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 9 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Doug was born on August 24, 1956 in Amarillo, to Thomas and Edna (Mallett) Walker. He loved all forms of racing from drag racing to top fuel. Preferring to work outside, he loved the peace of fishing. A self-starter and “go-getter”, he tried to achieve perfection in everything he tried. What he didn’t know, he learned.

Doug enjoyed being a member of Operating Engineers Local 178. During his career as a heavy equipment operator, he was employed with Crocker Crane, McIntire Crane, and Davis Crane. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy Seabees.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Joe Walker; and his grandparents, Mary and Harley Aylor, James and Jean Mallett, Venna and Al Walker, and Birdie and Floyd Francis.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Walker; his parents; brother, John Thomas Walker and wife, Kelly; sisters, Barbara Hess and husband, Rodney, Betty Walker, and Brenda Davidson and husband, Jimmie; cousins, Tom Bowerman and wife, Debbie and Mary Bandy; special great-nephew, Noah River; numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his 3 four-legged children, Nimitz, Shaky and LaBaBa Bree.
