Dr. Bob Vorderlandwehr

Dr. Bob Vorderlandwehr, 76, of Hillsboro died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at St. Paul's Hospital in Dallas. Dr. Bob was born November 21, 1931 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma the son of Henry William and Edna Christine Zimmerman Vorderlandwehr. He grew up in Oklahoma where he was a graduate of Canton High School and Southwestern State College. On November 27, 1952 he married Marie Mirtz. In 1953 he entered the United State Army and served in Korea. He entered Baylor Dental School in 1956 and graduated with his DDS in May of 1960. The couple moved to Hillsboro in August of 1960 where he started his practice. He previously served on the HISD school board for nine years. For many years he was also a basketball referee for area schools. He enjoyed coaching Doc's Drillers Softball DDS men's team and youth little league. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, Rotary Club, the American and Texas Dental Associations, and was a past member of Jaycees. He served in the National Guard for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Captain. Preceding him in death were his parents and a son-in-law, Richard Lewis. Survivors include his wife, Marie Vorderlandwehr of Hillsboro; two children, Valerie Lewis and Bobby Vorderlandwehr and wife, See, all of Hillsboro; sister, Alice Hoffman of Garland; four grandchildren, Cassandra Sexton and Howard; Stephanie Lewis and fiancé, Ray Vantreese; Cody Lewis and Stephanie; and Raymie Vorderlandwehr all of Hillsboro; four great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Mallorie Sexton; and Austin and Mason Lewis all of Hillsboro; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, his dog Max.
